Early College High School
8th grade students who are interested in applying for PCC Early College High School and ECU Innovation High School can pick up an application from a School Counselor. Completed applications are due to a school counselor by Friday, January 18th.

Scholarship Opportunity for 7th and 8th Graders
The North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, NCASFAA is seeking applicants for the NCASFAA Middle School Enrichment Scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 for current 7th or 8th graders. The scholarship will allow students to attend a summer camp of their choice on a college campus in North Carolina. For additional details regarding eligibility and the application, please visit: http://www.ncasfaa.com/docs/toc_scholarships.html. Students can apply online. The deadline for all applications is December 1, 2017.

Teen Court is recruiting at Hope Middle School for 7th and 8th graders! Teen Court is a “hands-on” educational opportunity to better understand our system of justice for offenders and for youth volunteers. Benefits of Teen Court include:
- Juveniles brought before Teen Court learn to accept responsibility for their actions by completing various sanctions imposed by a jury of their peers.
- Juveniles completing Teen Court successfully will have no criminal record of the offense.
- Youths and young adults are educated about the American system of justice.
- Youth are provided a peer group working together for awareness and compliance with the law.
- Positive relationships between adult community members and youth are built, enabling juveniles, adult volunteers, professionals, and others to take proactive ownership of their community.
BackPack Pals
BackPack Pals applications are due back by 9/15/17! However, Counselors will accept applications after this date! BackPack Pals provide students with additional snacks and meals for the weekend! We are excited about being able to offer this opportunity to our students!

Sixth Grade Orientation
Orientation for rising 6th graders for the 2017/2018 School Term will be held April 12, 2017 from 9:00 am-10:30 am. Students will visit Hope Middle School with their current 5th grade classes as a field trip. During orientation, students will have the opportunity to tour the school, ask questions, listen to the orchestra, band, and chorus, and meet sixth grade teachers and school administration. We look forward to meeting all of our rising Mustangs!

Each year College Foundation, Inc. awards 10 Victor E. Bell, Jr. Scholarships to N.C. 7th graders with potential for college, but limited financial resources. Individual awards are $2,000 per year (grade 7 – senior year of college) and renewable annually up to a maximum of $20,000 when eligibility criteria are met. Winners are determined by a random drawing from all nominations received; each NC middle school may submit one nomination. Contact Mrs. Simmons if you are interested!
Deadline for submission is October 14, 2016.

Students: Your teachers and staff members at Hope Middle School will be rocking their collegiate colors Friday, September 2, 2016! Be sure to ask them about their college! Questions to ask include but are not limited to: What was your major? What should I do now to prepare for college? What organizations were you a member of while in college? What did you like most about college?
As for me, I will be wearing royal purple and old gold for East Carolina University Pirates! Pirates ARRRGHH #1!!
